Autocracy of one family in danger: Amit Shah

Union home minister Amit Shah on Friday attacked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and his party saying ‘not democracy but autocracy of one family is in danger’.

Shah began his campaign in Uttar Pradesh for 2024 polls and appealed to voters of Purvanchal and Bundelkhand to vote for BJP.

In Kaushambi, he inaugurated the Kasuhambi Mahotsav while in Azamgarh he inaugurated and laid foundation stones of developmental projects. While Kaushambi was won by BJP in 2019, Azamgarh Lok Sabha was wrested by the party from SP in bypolls last year.

While addressing the public, Shah said it has never happened before in the history of independence that the country’s budget session got adjourned without even a single debate. He said this time the leaders of opposition did not allow Parliament to function because of Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification. He said people of the country will never forgive Gandhi for “wasting” the time of Parliament.

On Rahul’s UK remark, Shah said, “Tell me friends, should any leader of the country go abroad and insult the country? There is an open field here. Who is scared, Rahul baba ? You (Rahul) decide the field- wherever it is in India, BJP is ready for a duel. We are not scared. You go abroad and speak ill of the country on a public platform- what kind of politics do you want to bring into India?” Shah said. “They say democracy is in danger. Democracy is not in danger , your family is. Idea of India is not in danger , the idea of a dynasty is…dynastic politics is in danger… and not India ‘s democracy but your family ‘s autocracy is in danger. You had kept the country’s democracy shackled by casteism , dynasties and appeasement . Modi ji put an end to casteism .SP and BSP are nowhere in sight. He defeated dynasty parties and he put an end to appeasement too and due to this reason you are scared,” Shah said.
