England will hope a new Ashes Test brings better fortune as they look to bounce back from their defeat in Brisbane last week.

Another batting collapse from Joe Root’s men saw the hosts begin their defence of the urn with a dominant nine-wicket victory at the Gabba.

Now England will hope to avoid going 2-0 down in Adelaide, where they will play their fifth day-night Test match.

Their hopes were boosted on Wednesday night when it emerged that Australia captain Pat Cummins will have to sit out having come into close contact with a positive Covid case, with Steve Smith set to skipper side instead.
