Australia’s rising UFC superstar, Perth’s Jack Della Maddalena seems destined to have a long wait after not one, but two world-ranked fighters withdrew from bouts planned against him this weekend.

The UFC Rookie Of The Year who has an imposing 14-2 MMA record and a brutal right hand , was scheduled to fight world number eight Sean Brady of the United States in Las Vegas on July 8.

But, 10 days ago Brady [15-1 MMA record] sensationally withdrew claiming a staph infection to his left elbow had sidelined him.

Then his replacement, American rival Josiah Harrell, withdrew just hours after the official weigh-ins today with a rare disease that results in blocked arteries at the base of the brain.

This prompted the Aussie to say at his weigh-in yesterday, ‘well, he [Brady] owes me a fight now.

‘I came all the way over here to fight him so he can fight me on September 10 in Australia now.’

This is not the first time Sean Brady has pulled out of a fight. He was also scheduled to get in the cage with Michel Pereira [28-11 MMA] in March but had to withdraw due to injury.

It has left Della Maddalena frustrated and fightless in Vegas, although he hopes UFC boss Dana White will sign off an the fight being rescheduled in Australia.

Brady’s replacement Harrell – aka, Muscle Hamster – is an Ohio wrestler undefeated in all seven professional appearances and touted a potential rising superstar of the sport.

He went viral last month when a monster takedown took an opponent into, then through a steel cage door.

But Harrell has reluctantly withdrawn because a pre-fight mandatory MRI proved he has brain-related medical issues.

‘Josiah Harrell’s pre-fight brain MRI may have saved his life,’ Harrell’s manager Maurice Blanco said.

‘He was diagnosed with moyamoya syndrome, a rare disease that results in blocked arteries at the base of the brain. He will undergo a brain procedure soon.’

Just prior to Harrell’s shocking diagnosis, the Aussie was still annoyed about Brady’s withdrawal.

Speaking with Fox Sports Australia earlier this week, the Perth native insisted Brady owed him a Sydney showdown after saying Brady had, ‘s … the bed’ as the main reason for withdrawing.

‘If he [Brady] can’t fight me now, then let’s look at UFC 293 in Sydney in September,’ he said.

‘Sean Brady is a good test for me.

‘It’s a cool fight, makes sense and a lot of people are into seeing it happen.

‘Sean Brady was a young prospect last year and, while he had that tough loss (against Muhammad) it’s a great test for me.’

Brady had stunningly won 15 fights in a row before Belal Muhammad pursued him relentlessly in the ring during their recent bout clipping him in the face at every opportunity.

‘So now we can just push the fight back a few weeks and go in Sydney.’

‘I came out here and he’s the reason the fight didn’t go ahead.

‘So, yeah, I do feel like he owes it to me.’
