Auburn football scores big win keeping RB Tank Bigsby amid transfer speculation

Auburn football was rumored to be on the verge of running back Tank Bigsby to the transfer portal but the Tigers and Bryan Harsin scored a big win.

Though the Auburn Tigers are bowl game-bound, the fact of the matter is that the first year under head coach Bryan Harsin was certainly not up to the set standards of the program with a 6-6 finish to the regular season.

However, there is always room to build a program, but even that was starting to look in danger in December. After legacy quarterback Bo Nix announced he had entered the transfer portal, there were persistent rumors still around that running back Tank Bigsby would also be leaving the Auburn football program.

Tigers fans can breathe a huge sigh of relief, though. On Monday, Bigsby reportedly made the decision to stay at Auburn after talking with Harsin and the coaching staff and being sold on the vision for the back and the program moving forward.

Auburn football: Tank Bigsby staying with Tigers, not transferring

Paired with Jarquez Hunter, Bigsby was arguably the most critical and most dangerous component of the Tigers offense this past season, hence why it’s such a huge win for Auburn to hang onto him.

Bigsby carried the ball 207 times this past season for 1,003 yards and 10 touchdowns while also notching 16 catches for 116 receiving yards as well. He was the focal point of the offense and should continue to be as much moving forward now that he’s staying put.

This is a huge victory for Harsin, who already started hearing hot-seat buzz at the end of his first season with the Tigers. If he’s going to turn things around with his vision, he can’t be losing playmakers like Bigsby to the portal. And thankfully, he’s not going to.
