Auburn fans are ready to fire Bryan Harsin after Birmingham Bowl loss

With a disappointing result on Tuesday in the Birmingham Bowl, Auburn fans are already calling for Bryan Harsin to get fired.

Things simply did not go according to plan for the Auburn Tigers in 2021. The team went 6-6 in the regular season, which of course included the heartbreaking loss to Alabama to close things out in the Iron Bowl.

Yet, the team still had a chance to close the year out on a positive note, taking on the Houston Cougars in the Birmingham Bowl. So, how’d things go? Houston came away with a 17-13 win. Woof. Now, Auburn fans are furious with head coach Bryan Harsin. Many want him canned as soon as possible.

Auburn fans want Bryan Harsin fired after loss to Houston

This was just rough for Auburn from start to finish, with the offense really looking sluggish. The Tigers actually entered the fourth quarter with a 13-10 lead, but Houston scored with 3:27 left on a 26-yard touchdown pass from Clayton Tune to Jake Herslow.

Folks were hoping Auburn would be able to go on a late drive to win things, but that didn’t end up happening and Houston was the one to celebrate after the final whistle. An SEC school losing to a non-Power-5 program in a bowl game? This is something Auburn fans never expected.

Now, the Tigers will enter the offseason knowing they just went 6-7. That’s brutal and doesn’t even come close to being good enough.

Fortunately for Harsin, he currently holds the No. 13 recruiting class in the country per 247Sports, but he’ll of course need to finish strong leading up to February’s Signing Day. If he doesn’t, the screams will only get louder from people for a change at the top to be made.
