Asia Cup 2023: BCCI President Roger Binny and VP Rajeev Shukla receive warm welcome in Lahore, See pics

Binny and Shukla graciously accepted the invitation extended by the PCB and will be staying in Lahore from September 4th to 7th.

In a momentous occasion, BCCI President Roger Binny and Rajeev Shukla have arrived in Lahore to a grand welcome by PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf. This visit holds great significance as both Binny and Shukla are expected to witness the highly anticipated clash between Bangladesh and Afghanistan in the Asia Cup 2023, scheduled to take place at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Tuesday.

It has been revealed that both Binny and Shukla graciously accepted the invitation extended by the PCB and will be staying in Lahore from September 4th to 7th, during which they will have the opportunity to witness two thrilling Asia Cup matches from the iconic stadium. As a gesture of hospitality, the PCB has also invited the esteemed guests and their spouses to an official dinner, which will be hosted by the board members at the Governor’s House in Lahore on September 4th.

It’s worth noting that Shukla was part of the Indian team contingent when Sourav Ganguly captained the Men in Blue to a historic series win in 2004. However, due to the strained political relations between India and Pakistan, both teams now only compete in ICC tournaments and Asia Cup competitions, rather than engaging in bilateral series.

Previously, Binny expressed his willingness to visit Pakistan, emphasizing the hospitable nature of its people.

“Vice President Rajiv Shukla and I will arrive in Pakistan on September 4. I have no hesitation in going to Pakistan. My visits to Pakistan were always memorable, Pakistanis are very hospitable. Matches between Pakistan and India are important for cricket,” Binny said.

Meanwhile, India and Pakistan played in the Asia Cup 2023 once, but unfortunately, the game was abandoned due to rain after the completion of the first innings.
