Around one thousand 950 crore rupees allocated under ‘Khelo India Scheme’ within four years: Anurag Thakur in Rajya Sabha

Around one thousand 950 crore rupees have been allocated under the Khelo India Scheme within four years. This was stated by Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur in the Rajya Sabha today. He said, out of the total allocated fund, over one thousand 570 crore rupees have been utilized. Khelo India scheme is a demand-driven scheme under which sports infrastructure projects are sanctioned on the basis of proposals received from the States, Union Territories, and eligible entities. Mr. Thakur said, over 657 crore rupees have been allocated for this fiscal year, out of which more than 313 crore rupees have been utilized by the end of October this year.

       

Replying to another query, the Minister said, a total of 267 sports infrastructure projects have been sanctioned across the country under the Utilization and Creation of Sports Infrastructure of the Khelo India Scheme. These sporting infrastructures cater to all categories of citizens and serve the purpose of training sportspersons for international multi-sporting events. He said, 237 sports academies are accredited under Support to National, Regional, State Sports Academies vertical of Khelo India Scheme.
