AR Rahman opens up on his marriage to Saira Banu, reveals it changes you as a person | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

Oscar-winning music composer AR Rahman, counted as one of the best in the world, has always managed to keep his private life fiercely guarded. He tied the knot with Saira Banu in 1995 and the couple is blessed with three children, Raheema, Khatija and AR Ameen, who are rarely seen with him in public. In a recent interview, however, the reticent composer opened up on his otherwise private life.

Rahman revealed that marriage changes one as a person and it is something that constantly requires work.

He also said that his decision to get married at the peak of his career was more spiritual than physical, so that he had something to hold on to in life, through all the highs and lows.
He further added that within your parents, wife and then children, your loyalties tend to keep oscillating, but one should always aim to strike a balance. He said, at the end of the day, it’s you, your wife, and then your mother. The real issue starts when you struggle to integrate all this stuff and go beyond a level where you see everybody as a family. He also said that his marriage came with a lot of cultural differences, but he chose never to take sides, but rather let everything flow at the right pace, at the right time.
Workwise, Rahman has projects like Maidaan, Pippa and Laal Salaam in his kitty.
