Antonio Cassano blasts Jose AGAIN amid suggestions the Roma boss could replace Carlo Ancelotti

‘Mourinho doesn’t give a s**t about football!’: Antonio Cassano blasts Jose AGAIN amid suggestions the Roma boss could replace Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid as the Italian claims ‘he doesn’t like to work, he doesn’t know how to communicate’

  • Jose Mourinho was linked with a return to Real Madrid to replace Carlo Ancelotti
  • Antonio Cassano however claimed that Mourinho will not be re-appointed
  • Cassano previously slammed the ex-Chelsea boss after Roma’s Coppa Italia exit

Antonio Cassano has launched a scathing assessment of Jose Mourinho’s coaching abilities amid reports that the Roma boss could make a sensational return to the Santiago Bernabeu.

The Italian forward claimed that Mourinho would not be appointed by the club if they ‘want a coach’, branding the Portuguese manager as ‘just cinema’.

Carlo Ancelotti, the current Los Blancos boss, is under contract until the end of the 2023-24 season – when Mourinho’s deal in the Italian capital also expires.

But the Italian faces an uncertain future, with links to several sides – including the Brazilian national team.

As such, Mourinho has been touted as a potential successor, with a return to Los Blancs potentially seeing current Real Under-18 coach Alvaro Arbeloa promoted to his No 2.

Cassano, however, remains against the idea of the Portuguese coach starting a second stint in charge, telling BoboTV: ‘He can return to Real Madrid if Ancelotti does not continue, but if Los Blancos want a coach, they will not call Mourinho for their new project.

‘Mou doesn’t give a sh*t about football. He doesn’t like to work, he doesn’t know how to communicate or speak, let’s not be fooled by his story.’

‘I don’t know how he achieves those results, because it’s just cinema. He was a great coach, but right now he can train Real Madrid, as he can also train San Martines.’

In his three-year spell at the Bernabeu between 2010 and 2013, Mourinho won only three trophies during a period that saw Pep Guardiola’s Lionel Messi-led Barcelona dominate Spanish football.

However, since joining Roma in 2021, he has guided them to a Europa Conference League title, becoming the first ever manager to win a major European competition with four different clubs.

But this is not the first time that the Italian has singled out Mourinho for criticism, having previously launched an assault on his coaching abilities after Roma were knocked out of the Coppa Italia by Cremonese in February.

He also praised the Portuguese boss’ ability to communicate with his side, despite claiming he ‘doesn’t know how to communicate or speak’ later in April.

‘Mourinho has never been a great coach, he just knew how to play the media and was a great communicator,’ Cassano told Christian Vieiri’s BoboTV podcast.

‘He is good at dealing with strong players, not ones who aren’t very good. It’s too easy to just be friendly with great players.’

He added: ‘It is just a disaster upon a disaster at Roma, he got them to spend money on Nemanja Matic and Rui Patricio, they were his decisions.

‘The other day, that performance made me want to vomit. He doesn’t know how to set out a team. Even with your second-string squad, you need to beat Cremonese.’

Cassano was signed by Real from Roma in January 2006, but was loaned out to Sampdoria just a year later before leaving for the Italian club permanently in 2008.
