Airpods Pro: Apple brings new update to AirPods, AirPods Pro, AirPods Max – Times of India

Apple has rolled out a new firmware update for AirPods and Beats headphones. The firmware updates have been rolled out to AirPods (2nd gen), Airpods (3rd gen), AirPods Max, AirPods and AirPods Pro (2nd gen). In addition to AirPods, Beats Fit Pro and PowerBeats Pro have also received new firmware update.
All the AirPods models firmware version number is “5E135” whereas for Beats headphones it is “5B66”.
Apple also doesn’t really have any release notes that details what changes the firmware update actually brings. Plus, firmware updates aren’t like software updates, which means you can’t manually download them. For instance, we checked on our first-generation of AirPods Pro and we could’t see the new update. Having said that, the firmware updates are generally expected to reach users gradually.
How to check for firmware update
To check for firmware updates for your AirPods, follow these steps:

  • Connect your AirPods to your iPhone or iPad.
  • Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
  • Tap on “General.”
  • Scroll down and tap on “About.”
  • Scroll down to “AirPods” and tap on it.
  • Look for the “Firmware Version” section and check the number

There’s another way to check for the firmware update for AirPods.

  • Put your AirPods on or connect them to your iPhone
  • Open the Settings app and you will see the AirPods name
  • Tap on it
  • You will now have swipe to the bottom to see “Version”

Note that your AirPods must be in their charging case and connected to your device in order for the firmware update to install.
It is important to keep your AirPods up to date to ensure they are functioning optimally and to take advantage of any new features or bug fixes.
