Collingwood star Jeremy Howe is sent to hospital after breaking his arm following sickening collision as Pies teammates rally around stricken star during win over Geelong

Jeremy Howe suffered a serious injury during Collingwood’s clash with Geelong, amid reports the Pies star broke his arm in a sickening collision.

The defender contested an aerial ball in his forward 50 when he ran into his opposite number, somersaulted forwards and landed heavily on his arm and head. The Age reports that he broke his arm as a result.

A stretcher was immediately called onto the MCG turf and he was carted off, but not before his Collingwood teammates rallied around him in a touching show of support.

An ambulance was seen pulling into the MCG with Channel 7 reporting that he is on his way to the hospital. He was later seen chatting with his partner while sat on a stretcher in the locker room.

‘It’s shattering,’ Tayler Adams said after the game. ‘He is literally the heart and soul of our football club.

‘We are clearly going to miss him, he’s irreplaceable. We will get around him, make him feel as loved as we possibly can and we will hopefully get him back for the second half of the year.’

It was a feisty affair on Friday night with both sets of players coming to blows at the quarter time break. But Collingwood managed to rally and see out a huge 125-103 victory to get their 2023 campaign off to a flyer.
