After his successful stint with ‘The Night Manager’, Aditya Roy Kapur will be seen next in a double role. He headlines the new thriller ‘Gumraah’ alongside Mrunal Thakur. While Aditya has a huge fan following, the actor always prefers to keep a low profile outside of his movies. Which is why, it’s rare to see him display his sensitive side and speak what he feels. But in a recent interview with ETimes, the actor spoke about his vulnerable side. He also discussed how he has dealt with the failure of his movies – right from his first film, ‘London Dreams’ to ‘Kalank’.
The ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ star is a huge lover of cinema! That’s evident from the fact that he had once quoted American actor Harrison Ford and said that, to be an actor, one needs to be okay with looking like a fool or wimp on camera. When asked about it and being ready to be vulnerable on-screen, Aditya expressed, “I think everyday you have to be vulnerable. You are in front of 200 people on set everyday and the clock is ticking. So you always feel vulnerable. Which is why, when you have such a great set of people around you, it makes a huge difference. It’s like a sacred space which is created over a few days and it becomes like one family. It’s a lovely thing in its own way, making movies.”
He had taken a break for two years before ‘Kalank’ and that also helped him see things differently. Ask him if he’s more resistant to failure and everything else that comes along with being an actor and he says, “It’s that kind of profession which is going to have its peaks and troughs. I got a taste of that from my very first film. I’ve had all of those and I’ve gotten better at dealing with both. It’s as important to deal with your ups just as you deal with your downs. But it’s important to know that nothing is permanent. If it’s good today, it doesn’t mean it’ll always be good and vice-versa. But, all this is easier said than done. In that moment when you’re going through a tough phase, it’s important to feel that and not be in denial about where you are. One also needs to know that it’s not the end of the world. You need to have faith in your own abilities and keep your focus on what drives you, which is – my love for acting and my love of movies. As long as that is in place, everything is fine!”
