“Fall finds denim deeply relaxed. The jeans that feel right for right now are oversized—slouchy in a deliberate way. Bigger feels better, and the wide-leg silhouettes I’m drawn to are imbued with a sense of freedom and vitality that recalls ’90s rave culture.” – Catherine Holstein, founder

“I’ve been gravitating to the low-slung vibe for Fall and I know others are feeling the same. We keep selling out of the Neve Low Slung Relaxed and the Gaucho Vintage Wide Leg. The Neve is a full-length straight leg that sits low at the hip and is easy through the thigh. The Gaucho’s vintage-inspired silhouette sits higher at the waist with an easy, relaxed top block, voluminous leg shape, and ultra-cropped inseam. Both feel sophisticated and cool and nod to Y2k in a way that feels really stylish.” Marianne McDonald, creative director

“The ‘90s trend is still going strong–especially with denim–and we are seeing demand for straight-leg styles. We’re also seeing that lighter washes with a lot of surface texture and dimension; plus, a range of washed black denim from dark and clean to charcoal and light grays will have a stronghold through the fall. I predict those more relaxed, easy-to-wear styles will be at the forefront this fall, like our Baggy Tapered Jeans and silhouettes from our PVJ (Perfect Vintage Jean) family. We are also starting to see our community lean into low-slung and low-waisted, looser-fitting styles. The Perfect Vintage Jean continues to be one of the most popular styles in our denim assortment with more than one sold every minute, it’s a true staple for our customer.” Mary Pierson, SVP denim design

“For this season, we strongly believe in the more slouchy, straight fit with a mid-rise in rigid denim. Much like our new style called Niagara, with a relaxed straight leg for the boyfriend silhouette, designed to sit confidently on the hip. (With this new style, we also introduced our new Conservation denim program. Our end goal is, of course, to use only non-virgin materials, a path on which we’ve come a very long way.) It’s also impossible not to mention the low-rise style that has become more and more present, and this summer, we introduced our own very first low-rise style called Eiffel Low. Our by far best selling style as of now is our St Monica—a contemporary flared ’70s pant with a high-rise and patch pockets in the front. Another one is our Eiffel jeans, which has become a true signature style of Jeanerica. We really want to highlight our new seasonal wash that we call “Soft Grey.”  For a more dressed, elegant look and feel that we believe will be a great hit.” – Lena Patriksson Keller and Jonas Clason, co-founders of Jeanerica.

“The Fall collection is synchronized in contrast. I am really excited about baggy for the season, longer inseams and lower rises are key. Top fits include the Low Slung Baggy and Wyman. Low Slung Baggy is an ultra-relaxed, upsized fit that anchors low on the hips with a directional, baggy silhouette cut with a full-length inseam. The Wyman is a true, straight leg designed to sit low and square on the waist with a cropped inseam. Reworked essentials signature to Agolde continue to be strong such as the Broken Waistband Jean. For wash range, we lean towards clean washes, red casts, marbled blacks. Inky indigos and surface textures are important and more refined for the season, replacing high wash and wear and destruction.” – Karen Phelps, creative director

“For fall 2022, the collection continues to build on the pillars of Goldsign—polished statement shapes emphasized with signature precision and attention to detail. Amplified proportions crafted in sophisticated statement shapes and menswear-inspired, wide-leg trousers with slouch rises and full-length Gaucho with exaggerated legs. Some of our top styles include the Edgar Trouser Jean—a high-rise, wide-leg trouser with a neat waist, and The Gaucho—a high-rise jean with an exaggerated voluminous leg. From a wash perspective, saturated inky indigos with textural surfaces that are evocative of the early 2000s are reimagined. We continue to evolve and explore lower rises.” Karen Phelps, creative director

“Overall, there is a move towards wider legged denim—whether that’s ’70s flares or looser ’90s straight legs. Earlier this year, we launched SNACKS! from MOTHER, our homage to ’90s denim with a focus on wide-leg styles and long inseams that puddle at the hem. For fall, the trend continues with evolving interest in more fitted wide-leg styles in soft stretch fabrics—perhaps as a kind of “gateway” for the more dramatic fits. Darker washes and longer inseams are also key as we transition into cooler weather. We are already seeing styles like The Hustler Roller Heel with its ’70s-inspired wide-leg silhouette and extended inseam getting traction.” – Tim Kaeding, creative director and co-founder

“We’re seeing flares and wide legs have a major moment right now. We love these silhouettes because they’re adaptable and versatile and can be dressed up or down, from day to night. For a sleek but comfortable silhouette, our Jetset Flare is the ideal travel-day jean. No rivets, zippers, seams, or pockets on a high-rise waist and flared leg provide elevated ease and comfort without sacrificing style. Our High N Tight is a new fit that has a high waist with a slight pinch at the top, giving way to an ultra-flattering backside. It comes in three leg shapes: a wide leg, a straight, and a taper.” Danielle Manapat – buying director

“Volume will continue to be a key driver in silhouettes. We have seen a clear shift from skinny jeans to wide-leg styles. Washings are less distressed than in previous seasons. There is a stronger focus on raw denim and mid-blue washes. Another key trend in terms of washes and styles is the late ’90s, defined by mid-rise baggy jeans with a straight leg in authentic vintage washes. The current best-selling style is the Flared-X, our heritage x-pocket fit with a mid-waist and a long voluminous leg. We predict the best-selling fits for fall will be the Briston, which is our ’90s-inspired mid-waist baggy style with a straight leg. We also see a high demand for our new style Braden.” – Johanna Czepalla, denim designer & developer
