Director Ram Gopal Varma’s iconic film, ‘Satya‘ completed 25 glorious years and the actors associated with the film have been taking a trip down memory lane as they reminisced about working in the film.
Amidst this, Urmila Matondkar, who was also a part of the movie, expressed her disappointment over not receiving any recognition even though she played a simple de-glam character at the peak of her glamorous career.

Sharing some pictures of her character Vidya from the movie, Urmila wrote, ’25yrs of Satya n of playing simple naive chawl girl Vidya at the peak of an scintillating glamorous career. But NO what did that have to do with “acting”.. so no awards n not even nominations. So sit down n don’t talk to me about favouritism n nepotism.. #jastsaying (sic)’.

As soon as she shared the tweet, comments poured in from all sides. While one of her fans wrote, ‘Vidya’s simplicity is this is like oasis in dessert brilliant job 30 saal se my sab se favourite one n only @UrmilaMatondkar (sic)’, another one added, ‘Satya was a mature movie which deglamorized crime in contrast to what we see today. You were obviously scintillating like any movie of yours, be it Rangeela, Mast or Pyaar tune kya kiya. 4vr favourite.’ A user also commented, ‘Satya was a game changer in Indian cinema. It showed the realistic portrayal of the characters. You were exceptional as Vidya (sic).’

Released on July 3 1998, ‘Satya’ revolved around a village man, who gets involved in Mumbai’s underworld and becomes a gangster. The film also featured JD Chakravarthy, Manoj Bajpayee, Shefali Shah and Saurabh Shukla in pivotal roles.
