2 in 3 Indians believe Budget 2022 will have positive impact on economy: Survey – Times of India

NEW DELHI: The Union Budget 2022 had none of the much anticipated relaxation in personal taxes. Despite that, majority of Indians hold a positive view of the Budget, a survey by community platform LocalCircles has found.
24% respondents hold a very high opinion of the budget, and feel it will create infrastructure, boost spending and employment and incentivize consumer spending. Another 42% think it will aid only some of these, but not all.
29% have expressed disappointment with Nirmal Sitharaman’s Budget.

Asked about the overall impression with the Budget, 7% said it was far above expectations. Another 35% said it met or exceeded expectations. However as much as 30% felt it was far below expectations.

48% respondents felt that the extra Rs 200cr allocated for healthcare is not sufficient to deal with the Covid pandemic; 40% felt otherwise.

74% citizens support the government on one or more of its plans to tax digital assets and cryptocurrency transactions or RBI launching India’s digital currency, the survey found.

The survey received more than 40,000 responses from citizens residing in 342 districts of India. Of the total responses, 66 per cent of respondents were men while 34 per cent of respondents were women.
Besides, 42 per cent of respondents were from tier 1 cities, 33 per cent from tier 2 and 25 per cent respondents were from tier 3, 4 and rural districts.
