Zomato cofounder Mohit Gupta quits

Food delivery major, Zomato has seen another of its cofounders Mohit Gupta quit the company, as per a stock exchange filing on Friday.

Gupta, who
was elevated to as a cofounder in 2020, had held various positions at Zomato including being its chief executive of its food delivery unit and also head of its new initiatives.

This is the third senior level exit at Zomato in recent times and comes close on the heels of Rahul Ganjoo, head of new initiatives resigning from the startup, earlier this week. Over the last month, senior leader Siddharth Jhawar also quit the company as vice president and head of intercity legends service.

Zomato had also witnessed cofounder Gaurav Gupta quit the company two months after its initial public offering (IPO). Gaurav Gupta played a key role in the runup to the food delivery platform’s IPO in July 2021.
“Over the past few years, I have seen Deepi become an even more mature and confident leader who is now completely capable of leading the business into a bright future with all of you by his side. It is with this confidence that I am deciding to move on from Zomato to seek the other unknown adventures that life holds for me. As I look ahead, I am full of excitement for the vision that Zomato, Blinkit, Hyperpure and Feeding India are building towards,” said Mohit Gupta in his farewell note to employees.

Prior to joining Zomato in 2018, Mohit Gupta was also the chief operating officer of travel booking platform, MakeMyTrip. He also served as the vice president of marketing at PepsiCo India.
