Zara Hatke Zara Bachke sold 2.5 lakh tickets to audience for free, the cost was beared by producer Dinesh Vijan: Report | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

Sara Ali Khan and Vicky Kaushal starrer Zara Hatke Zara Bachke has earned Rs 22.59 crore in the first weekend of its release. It’s run at the domestic box office has surprised everyone. The Laxman Utekar directorial had a Buy One Get One Free offer running over the opening weekend, which helped the movie get more footfalls in theatres. However, it has also burned a hole in the film’s producer’s pocket.
According to an entertainment portal, Zara Hatke Zara Bachke sold approximately 2.5 Lakh tickets for free in the Buy One Get One Free scheme. The average price per ticket was Rs 250 amounting to a gross of Rs 6.25 crore. The money was beared by producer Dinesh Vijan and it has cost him Rs 5.30 crore on nett terms.
The offer was still valid on Monday on the initial 10K tickets. The scheme is expected to shut from tomorrow and will reopen over the second weekend. The report states that by the end of the offer, nearly 3 lakh tickets would be given for free to the audience, costing Rs 7.50 crore to the producer.

The idea of this free ticket offer is to create a larger audience base in order to get bigger returns, followed by a positive word of mouth. However, the trade have been of the opinion that buy one get one free offer isn’t sustainable in long run for the film industry as it is the producer who is investing the money in tickets.
If the cost of free tickets is removed, then the total collection of Zara Hatke Zara Bachke would be around Rs 15 crore. The trade discussion suggests that a certain of audience might not have purchased tickets at a higher rate without this offer.
Set in Indore, Zara Hatke Zara Bachke follows a married couple Kapil and Somya, played by Vicky and Sara, who are headed for a divorce.
