Jordon McSweeney was due to be presented in the criminal court Old Bailey located in central London. Several protesters gathered outside the court ahead of his sentencing. However, he has refused to come out of the cells because he did not want to see the CCTV footage of him assaulting the girl.
Justice Cheema-Grubb said that the sentencing should continue in his absence, emphasizing that Aleena’s family should not have to wait to bring the criminal to justice. Opening the facts on the incident, public prosecutor Oliver Glasgow KC informed the court that how Jordon McSweeney was thrown out of a pub in Ilford, after harassing a number of employees in an inebriated condition on June 25.
He was then caught on CCTV while stumbling on the street and haunting two other women before he assaulted Zara Aleena. A few hours later, he stalked Zara along the Cranbrook Road before seizing her from behind and dragging her into a driveway. He brutally stamped and kicked her and tore her clothes in order to sexually assault her. Aleena succumbed to injuries in the hospital.
