Taneja, according to an NMRC official, had requested a booking for the party. He was asked to inform the local authorities so that arrangements could be made for the same. The police claimed Taneja had not sought permission nor informed authorities about the celebration.
Taneja’s wife Ritu Rathee, who has over 1.6 million followers on Instagram, said that she had booked an entire metro for her husband’s birthday. The melee resulted in a massive traffic jam inconveniencing many. The police took cognisance of the situation and apprehended Taneja. Section 144 was already in place in the area as part of Covid ruling.
