Youri Tielemans’ Aston Villa debut uniquely captured by bodycam footage as Belgian is seen battling in Villa’s 3-3 draw with Newcastle during US tour

Youri Tielemans has made his first bow for Aston Villa in their pre-season friendly against Newcastle, and it was fascinatingly captured by bodycam footage. 

The Belgian made the move to Villa this summer after the expiry of his contract at Leicester and made his debut during the Premier League Summer Series in the United States. 

His first appearance for his new club was captured in a unique fashion, with the midfielder wearing a bodycam camera to give viewers an inside look at the work of a Premier League midfielder. 

In the footage you and watch how much running Tielemans does in the middle of the park as well just how little time the players have on the ball. 

There is also the familiar calls from the 26-year-old as he shouts for a pass or warns a teammate of an oncoming opponent by screaming ‘man on’.

The footage begins with the Belgian doing some stretches before coming off the bench 

The bodycam gives viewers a brand new angle of what it’s like to be a Premier League player 

There’s also a firsthand angle of Tielemans taking a corner kick, something we’re more used to see in a high-tech sportswear advert rather than in a battle between two top Premier League sides. 

You can also view the pleasantries from players and officials at the culmination of the game as Tielemans shakes hands with the referee and his opponents.  

Bodycams have been used across the pre-season friendly tournament in America, with Premier League Peter Bankes capturing perhaps the best footage so far in Fulham’s 3-2 win over Brentford on Sunday.

Bankes was in the perfect position to give viewers a new angle of Harry Wilson’s screamer that opened the scoring in Philadelphia. 

Tielemans’ corner routine was in full focus thanks to the bodycam the Belgian was wearing 

The end of match handshakes were given a closer look as Tielemans exchanged pleasntries with the officials and his opponents 

Referees and players will not be able to use the devices when the Premier League resumes next month, as they are prohibited under the laws of the game, as well as the use of live audio. 

Villa and Newcastle fought out a 3-3 draw on Monday, with a goal from Ollie Watkins and an Emi Buendia brace. 

Unai Emery’s men continued their tour last night with a 2-0 win over Fulham, where Tielemans made his first start and there was a first goal for new signing Moussa Diaby.  

They will complete their Summer Series fixtures with a meeting with Brentford on Sunday in Maryland.
