Yogi showcases better infra, law & order to attract funds

Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath said on Wednesday that his state has been developing and getting more investments since he came to power. He attributed it to the improved infrastructure that his government has developed and the improved law and order in the state.

He was speaking to a select group of journalists on a two-day tour of Mumbai to seek more investments for UP ahead of the Global Investors Summit, which is scheduled to be held in February. On being asked about his image as “bulldozer baba”, the UP CM said the bulldozer can also be seen as a “symbol of peace” and “development”. “It (bulldozer) is also playing a role in UP’s infrastructural development. It is a sign of peace as well as progress in UP,” he said. Asked about other chief ministers following his strategy of using bulldozers against those encroaching on public land, Adityanath said, “Where it is needed, where people don’t obey the law, then such things are needed. People who don’t obey the law in spite of being told to, then different measures are used.”

Adityanath said improved law and order has resulted in more investments and companies coming to UP. “We used to have a situation earlier where girls could not step out for fear of being abducted. However, now women are going to schools, to jobs. People, irrespective of caste, have supported us,” he said. He said the biggest cluster of micro, small and medium clusters in the country has been set up in UP and that Fox Studios and Disney were coming up to set up shop in the state’s new Film City.
