Pamela Chopra had recently faced the camera for a documentary to share endearing details about her relationship with Yash Chopra. She had spoken about Yash Chopra’s journey from a budding filmmaker to creating their successful production house. Known to be a playback singer, Pamela went on to become a pillar of support to Yash Chopra. The late filmmaker would often turn to his wife to know her opinion on his movies.
The story of one of Yash Chopra’s biggest hits, ‘Kabhi Kabhie’ was written by Pamela Chopra. The film featured Amitabh Bachchan, Raakhee, Shashi Kapoor, Waheeda Rehman, Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor in lead roles and released in 1976. She has also been credited as the co-writer for 1997 hit ‘Dil To Pagal Hai’, along with Yash Chopra, Aditya Chopra and Tanuja Chandra. Pamela Chopra was also the producer for numerous hit projects made by Yash Chopra, Aditya Chopra and their production house.
Pamela Chopra was very passionate about music and Yash Chopra would ensure that his wife was a part of the music sittings of his movies. During her appearance on The Romantics, Pamela had said, “Music is my passion. Yash knew that and he would invite me to attend the music sittings. Slowly, I became a part of that group”. Speaking about the same, Uday had said in the docu-series, “My mother had a really good sense of music and song. We have this gadda room in our house, the music room, which was specifically created for a creatively inducive environment”. Pamela Chopra sang several songs for Yash Chopra’s films like ‘Kabhi Kabhie’ and ‘Mujhse Dosti Karoge!’ (2002).
She has also appeared on the big screen once, for the opening song ‘Ek Duje Ke Vaaste’ from ‘Dil To Pagal Hai’. Pamela Chopra made a short appearance with husband Yash Chopra in this song.
