Despite being swept in the ALCS last week by the Houston Astros, the New York Yankees are more than keen to retain its manager, Aaron Boone, and general manager, Brian Cashman, for next season.
Cashman, who started off his sports career as an intern with the Yankees in 1986 before working his way up to his current title, which he holds since 1998, is a free agent now that his contract’s expired since the team’s elimination.
Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner, however, is expected to come up with a new offer to retain his key man, according to SNY reports.
Yankees manager Aaron Boone and general manager Brian Cashman are expected to stay on
Yankees fans are frustrated by the team’s ALCS exit after being swept by the Houston Astros
And that likely means bringing back Boone too, Cashman’s first choice in 2018 for the manager role.
Boone has been coaching the Yankees since 2018 and just wrapped up the first year of his current three-year deal, which he signed in the 2021 offseason. His contract with the organization technically expires in 2024 but has a club option for 2025.
In any case, bringing back both managers will likely not go down well with Yankees fans, who haven’t seen their team reach the World Series since 2009, and are at risk of being even more upset if star player Aaron Judge leaves the franchise.
There still is a possibility, though, that both, Boone and Cashman, will not return if supporters speak out loudly enough to the point where their concerns are heard by Steinbrenner.

But the Yankees front office will feel the wrath from fans if star player Aaron Judge leaves
Only time will tell what the Yankees front office will do, and the executives upstairs are certainly in no rush to act, with the 2022-2023 season only starting at the end of March or beginning of April.
Negotiations with Cashman regarding a new deal are still ongoing, but according to SNY, talks are expected to go smoothly.
During the 55-year-old’s 24-year tenure, the Yankees have won four World Series titles and have always finished above a .500 average every year.
