The long-overdue Xbox TV app is finally launching later this month. The app, as per the report from The Verge, will first arrive on 2022 Samsung smart TVs and monitors. The Xbox TV app will allow users to stream Xbox games without needing a physical gaming console.
The Xbox TV app will be similar for gaming as Netflix or Prime video apps are for movies. The Xbox TV app will initially enable Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers to play around 100 titles on their 2022 Samsung smart TVs by streaming them directly via Xbox cloud server.
The good news is that Fortnite is available for free even for those who don’t have the Game Pass Ultimate subscription.
Reports suggest, that the app will be available to download via the Samsung gaming hub starting June 30 in 27 countries. To be able to play games, all users will need is a Microsoft account and an active Xbox Games Pass Ultimate subscription.
In addition to that, the Xbox TV app will also support a wide range of controllers including PlayStation DualSense, Xbox Controller and more. Users can connect the compatible controller via Bluetooth with their TV and that’s it. You are all set to play the game via the app.
For now, the Xbox TV app will be made available on Samsung TVs as a part of the Microsoft and Samsung partnership. The company has not yet confirmed any details about rolling out the app for other TVs.
