Xabi Alonso is the favourite to succeed Gerardo Seoane as Bayer Leverkusen manager, according to reports.
The German club have endured a woeful start to the new campaign, recording just five points in eight matches so far as the second-lowest side in the Bundesliga.
And now, Leverkusen are reportedly considering Seoane’s future at the club following their disappointing 2-0 defeat by Porto in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Former Liverpool, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich star Alonso is the top candidate to take over at the BayArena, according to ESPN.
The Spaniard has been out of work since his exit from Real Sociedad B in May.
In 2021, Alonso helped the Basque club win promotion to the Second Division for the first time in 60 years.
