WWE Elimination Chamber 2023 match rules, explained

There will be two Elimination Chamber matches taking place at WWE’s titular premium live event on Feb. 18, 2023. Here are the rules for the match.

There is one more roadblock on the road to WrestleMania 39 on April 1 and 2 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif., and that is the Elimination Chamber premium live event.

On Saturday, Feb. 18, WWE presents the Elimination Chamber show, live from the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. There are five matches scheduled for the card, but two will be held inside the titular steel structure.

Austin Theory defends his WWE United States championship against Seth Rollins, Damian Priest, Johnny Gargano, Montez Ford, and Bronson Reed. Meanwhile, Liv Morgan, Asuka, Raquel Gonzalez, Nikki Cross, Carmella, and Natalya face off for the chance to face Bianca Belair for the Raw Women’s Championship at WrestleMania.

WWE Elimination Chamber 2023 match rules, explained

First things first — the Elimination Chamber structure. The Elimination Chamber is surrounded by steel chain. There are steel floors that reach ring level. Finally, there are four glass pods where competitors will stand in when they are not scheduled to begin the match, and be locked in by referees standing outside of the structure.

Two competitors will start off the match, while the other four stand in their respective, locked pods. After an interval of time passes, usually five minutes, a competitor in the pods will randomly be called into the match after being released by the referees. That continues until all participants have entered the match.

The only way an opponent can be eliminated is by pinfall or submission. The last person standing will be declared the winner of the Elimination Chamber match.
