Wrexham: Rob McElhenney and his wife lather suncream on Wrexham stars as they prepare to leave Vegas

Rob McElhenney and his wife Kaitlin played the parents during their lavish holiday in Las Vegas as they applied suncream on their Wrexham stars in the pool – with the team preparing to jet home from their four-day party.

The Welsh side – owned by the It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia star and fellow actor Ryan Reynolds – have been celebrating in the United States after being treated to a luxurious getaway following their historic promotion to League Two.

Players have been pictured in great spirits at the all-expenses paid trip that McElhenney and Kaitlin couldn’t resist getting involved in – but they decided to take a step back and act like responsible parents to ensure the players didn’t get sun burnt as they soaked up the sun.

McElhenney posted a video of Kaitlin applying cream to the back of a Wrexham player as he relaxed in the pool while his team-mates partied next to him with drinks and music. 

‘Mom and Dad made sure the boys didn’t burn,’ he wrote in the caption alongside the video on his Instagram story.

Wrexham have been living it up with parties at the iconic MGM Grand – while they’ve also been wined and dined at the luxurious Spago restaurant, where prices can reach up to £79 ($100) per head. 

They also partied at Hakkasan nightclub, OMNIA – where they were invited into DJ Steve Aoki’s booth – and Marquee Dayclub. 

The holiday is now nearing its end, with Ollie Palmer hinting at their imminent departure by captioning a picture of the entrance to TAO beach with ‘one final push!’ 

The side were promised the trip by their owners as they came closer and closer to their target of promotion, a plan Mullin discussed in an interview with GQ. 

‘It became a thing where if we won the league, we’d get a holiday. So we’re off to Vegas,’ Mullin told the magazine.

‘Ryan and Rob told us to leave our cards at home, they’re sorting the lot. They sent us a full itinerary just now. 

‘Part of me doesn’t want to go, I might be dead by the end of it! But I’d never go to Vegas by my own accord, so I’m buzzing for it.’

Co-owner Reynolds has stayed away from the celebrations joked that next year’s group trip was likely to be a little less raucous. 

‘Next year, they’re going on a five day meditation retreat in the Faroe Islands,’ deadpanned the co-chairman, hashtagging ‘Wrexham in Vegas’ as he commented on a picture of Mullin and midfielder Elliot Lee posing with DJ Pauly D. 

The players previously celebrated on home soil on Tuesday with an open-top bus parade which saw Reynolds and McElhenney jet in to celebrate the promotion successes of both their men’s and women’s sides.
