Ant-Man’s Paul Rudd was on hand to film the moment Ryan Reynolds’ and Rob McElhenney’s soccer dreams came true.
The Hollywood stars were in the stands as their club Wrexham gained promotion to England’s Football League after 15 years away.
Reynolds and McElhenney, who took over the team in 2021 for a reported $2.5million and promised a rise up the English soccer pyramid, were overcome with emotion as Wrexham clinched the National League title.
And celebrity guest and pal of Reynolds Rudd captured the moment their side’s fate was confirmed.
Both Reynolds and McElhenney breathed a sigh of relief as the final whistle blew following the 3-1 victory over Boreham Wood.

The Hollywood A-listers then turned to each other and shared a strong and long embrace in the stands.
Reynolds uploaded the footage to his Twitter page on Sunday and wrote: ‘Rob and I kinda blacked out during this moment, but somehow we’ll never forget it.’
Earlier in the day, Reynolds said on social media: ‘Everything I own smells like champagne, beer and grass. I’m still somewhere between giggling and sobbing.
‘This town and this sport is one of the most romantic things on earth. Thank you, @wrexham_afc.’
Wrexham came from behind to beat Boreham Wood 3-1, sparking jubilant scenes at The Racecourse Ground.
Fans ran on to the pitch to celebrate with their heroes, and it wasn’t long before Reynolds and fellow co-owner McElhenney joined them.
‘I’m not sure I can actually process what happened tonight, I’m still a little speechless,’ Reynolds told British broadcaster BT Sport postgame.
‘One thing that is running through my head over and over again is people saying at the beginning “Why Wrexham”.

‘This is exactly why. What is happening right now is why.’
As seen in the Disney+ ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ documentary, the pair obtained the support of the 98.6 percent of the 2,000 fans included in the Wrexham Supporters Trust and were given the all-clear to buy the club.
The Deadpool star actually admitted that he had been inspired to buy the club thanks to a dance routine performed by his business partner McElhenney in his series ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’.
McElhenney paid tribute to the fans who have long-awaited an achievement like this.
‘We can hear how it feels to the town and that is what is most important to us. I think this is a moment of catharsis for them and celebration,’ he added.
‘For us to be welcomed into their community and welcomed into this experience has been the honor of my life.’
