World’s highest paid sportsperson earns Rs 20 lakh per hour, salary 10 times of MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli; net worth is…
While MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli are one of the highest-earning sportspeople of Asia, the world’s highest-paid athlete has a salary more than triple of these cricketers.
Cricketers like Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar are some of the highest paid athletes in Asia, with their net worth being the highest of all cricketers. However, their salaries are no match for the world’s highest paid athlete of 2023 – Cristiano Ronaldo.
Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni both have a net worth of over Rs 1040 crore, but footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has emerged as the highest paid athlete of all time, according to Forbes. Ronaldo’s wealth skyrocketed after signing a deal with Saudi football club Al Nassr.
According to a report by Forbes, Cristiano Ronaldo earns USD 136 million per year after signing a deal with his new club, which comes out to over Rs 1,120 crore in Indian currency. This consists of his brand deals, football salary and other sources of income.
Cristiano Ronaldo ended up earning USD 75 million (Rs 623 crore) from just his football performance and his on-field deal with Al Nassr. Apart from this, Ronaldo ended up earning over USD 90 million through social media and his endorsement deals.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli is known to have earned around Rs 10 crore through cricket over the last year, not counting his endorsement deals. Similarly, MS Dhoni’s IPL salary is around Rs 12 crore, exponentially less than that of Ronaldo.
This is the first time that Cristiano Ronaldo has landed on top of the world’s highest paid athletes list since 2017, surpassing his on-field rival Lionel Messi, who has recorded a yearly pay of USD 130 million, which comes out to Rs 1080 crore.
As of 2023, Cristiano Ronaldo has a net worth of USD 849 million, which comes out to Rs 7052 crore.
It must be noted that there is no cricketer on the Forbes list of highest paid athletes and sportspersons in 2023, and the list is mainly dominated by football players. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli remains the second highest paid athlete in Asia.
