Many of us love to chomp down on burgers. If it’s a McDonald’s burger, very few can resist its temptation. The gooey cheese, the scrumptious patty and the fresh bread: all of this is too drool-worthy to resist. But a US-based woman had some patience. And, she wanted to see what happens to a McDonald’s cheeseburger if not eaten [for a few years]. The results have baffled her. In a little experiment of her own, Megan Condry found out that the burger in question looked just the same since the day she bought it. Here’s what happened:
In November of 2017, Megan Condry bought the cheeseburger from McDonald’s for lunch but forgot to have it. After five days, she found the same burger in her backseat. The catch? The burger had not changed a bit. It neither smelled nor seemed to be rotten. This incident sparked an idea. Megan tried to see what happened to the burger if it was kept for a few years.

Megan Condry posted the photos on Facebook and wrote about her shocking discovery. The images showed the cheeseburger, which looks fresh. Another image shows the paper bag in which the burger was stored. On the bag, the date is mentioned as November 5, 2017.
The caption read, “OMG I found my McDonalds cheeseburger from 11/5/2017 I saved. It looks exactly the same, just hard as a rock. Crazy. So many preservatives, the patty and cheese are still there just hard as a rock. Upset I lost the receipt I saved with it.”
Here’s what Megan Condry added, “I bought it for lunch one day on the way to work and forgot about it and then found it on my backseat 5 days later. I decided to keep it because in the 5 days it had not molded, smelled or looked bad so I wanted to see what a few years would do. It’s been in my closet since in a bag. No smell, mold, looks like the day I bought it.”

When Facebook users tried to joke around and asked Megan Condry to take a bite of the cheeseburger, she affirmed that the food was too hard to consume. In fact, the high content of preservatives in these foods has aroused the concern of many people. From the comments, we also get to know that Megan restricts her fast food intake for the same reason.
