With a Chic Luncheon, Givenchy Pops Up in Bridgehampton

How to announce the arrival of Givenchy in the Hamptons? Why, a giant boxwood hedge trimmed into the iconic Givenchy logo, of course. Such a statement now stands tall at the picturesque Topping Rose House in Bridgehampton, welcoming locals and daytrippers alike to a pop-up of Givenchy’s Plage collection—a resort collection that paid homage to the beachy designs produced by the French Maison in the 1950s.

Mesh, terry cloth, and linen pieces splashed with the Givenchy monogram filled an elegant temporary store within the Topping Rose House’s back room, nestled by a pool shaded with Givenchy-branded parasols. Drawing inspiration from Monsieur de Givenchy’s iconic Riviera retreat, Le Clos Fiorentina, Givenchy’s creative director Matthew M. Williams fused the French Riviera’s elegance with California’s laid-back allure into the collection. It’s a universal look that suits any tony beach town, Hamptons included.

Soaking it all in (the pop-up is open July 1 -14) were Christie Brinkley, Molly Sims, Coco Bassey, Dee Poku, Mei Kwok, Rachel Zoe, Sai de Silva, and Sasha Benz. All sat for 3-course lunch in a back barn dressed with two long tables with live hydrangea blooms as runners.

“The prints that Rachel [Zoe] and Molly [Sims] are wearing were actually both from the archive, from those moments in the fifties,” said Givenchy president of the Americas Valerie Leon. “And one of the things that Hubert said was that the light in the south of France makes everything look more beautiful. For me, the light in the Hamptons makes everything glow and look beautiful. So that’s why we brought it here.”
