Windows 11 test build introduces new security feature and design tweaks – Times of India

Microsoft has started to roll out a new security feature that claims to keep users safe from potentially dangerous apps. The safety feature is a part of Windows 11 Build 22567 that comes with a few design improvements. The tech giant is calling the new safety feature Smart App Control (SAC). It is quite similar to the SmartScreen feature found in Windows 10.
What Smart App Control security feature in Windows 11 do
As explained by Microsoft in a blog, Smart App Control (SAC) blocks untrusted or potentially dangerous applications. SAC is first configured in evaluation mode. While SAC is in evaluation mode, it will learn if it can help protect you without getting in your way too much. If so, it will automatically be turned on. Otherwise, it will automatically be turned off. While in evaluation mode, a user can manually turn on SAC in the Windows Security app under the App & Browser Control section. It is worth noting that SAC can only be enabled on Windows devices that have performed a clean install with the latest Insider Preview build (Build 22567 and higher).
What are the other new features in the Windows 11 update
With the new update, the company has also updated the “Open with” dialog box to align with Windows 11 design theme. The updated dialog box follows the light/dark theme selected by the user for the PC. Microsoft has also simplified the experience by making it possible to update your default app with just one click.
Apart from this, the ability for voice typing to download Speech Packs from the Microsoft Store for device-based speech recognition to provide a better performance of transcription is now available for all Insiders in the Dev Channel.
