Will Aamir Khan return to the ‘Dhoom’ franchise? Here’s what we know… – Times of India

ETimes had earlier revealed that Aamir Khan is keen on doing a thriller action movie. We also reported how the superstar is in talks with YRF for a new film in the ‘Dhoom’ series where he can revive his ‘Dhoom 3’ characters of Sahir and Samar.
However, after the debacle of the Aamir Khan starrer ‘Dhoom 3’, reports are now rife that the makers are planning to take the franchise ahead with younger stars.

Since the racy thriller franchise centres on the antagonist, and the last Dhoom film came a decade ago, the makers are keen to attract newer and younger audience members with younger actors, like Ranbir Kapoor or Ranveer Singh. Aamir has reiterated his desire to do an action flick with YRF, the report in Mid-Day stated.

Last year, ETimes exclusively revealed how Aamir had decided to step down from playing the lead in the Spanish film ‘Campeones’ and produce the project instead. At a press conference, Aamir explained that Campeones was a heartwarming story, but he was stepping down from the project because he wanted to take a break and spend time with his family. It remains to be seen what Mr Perfectionist will eventually pick.

He was last seen in Advait Chandan’s ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ which also starred Kareena Kapoor in the lead role. The film was an official Hindi adaptation of the Hollywood film, ‘Forrest Gump’ which originally starred Tom Hanks in the lead role. The film failed to impress the audience and tanked at the box office.
