‘Why should I be upset?’ Says DK Shivakumar on being elected as Deputy CM
Hours after Congress finalised Siddaramaiah to be the next chief minister of Karnataka and DK Shivakumar will be his deputy, questions were raised on how the state party chief Shivakumar would react.
However, the grand old party reached the decision with the two leaders agreeing to a rotational formula, where Siddaramaiah will be the CM for a period of 2.5 years, followed by Shivakumar, who will lead the state for next 2.5 years.
Reacting on the decision, deputy CM designate Shivakumar said, “When people have given such a big mandate, we should definitely be happy and deliver and fulfill the promises. That is our main motto, agenda.”
“Why should I be upset? There is a long way to go,” he added.
Apart from this, Shivakumar also said, “Everything is well and will be well. Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge said that we all have to work together and we accepted it.”

As per details, both Siddharamiah and Shivakumar will take oath on 20th May. Also, the cabinet expansion is also going to take place on that day.
Congress-in-charge of Karnataka Randeep Singh Surjewala invited allies form other parties in the oath-taking ceremony. He said, “Our only formula is the service of people. Whoever wants to serve the people can do so, as much as they want. All our allies will be invited (to the oath-taking ceremony). This is not a celebration but Congress’s dedication to democracy…those who want to fight for democracy and save the Constitution, can attend the event…”
It is to be known that Siddaramaiah is a mass leader who joined Congress in 2006 following his ouster from JD(S), while DK Shivakumar is one of the richest politicians with a strong base.
Congress emerged victorious with a significant vote share and number of seats in the the Karnataka Assembly Elections 2023, claiming 136 seats, as per the Election Commission’s data.
