In an interview with a news portal in 2021, The actress recalled dancing with Shah Rukh on stage for the last song of their show, ‘Le ja le ja’ (Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham). Suddenly, she heard a deafening noise. At first, she thought it was a smoke bomb.Then she realised that the noise was too loud to be a smoke bomb. As per the dance sequence, Priyanka had to go backstage to change her outfit. But before she did, she saw bodies lying on the ground. There was chaos and the police were trying to pacify the crowd. The actress was still not sure whether it was a real bomb or a smoke bomb. When she went backstage, Shah Rukh, Preity, Celina Jaitly, Zayed Khan and Saif Ali Khan were talking about the blast. Before she knew what to do next, she was ushered into a car with them and was heading for Colombo airport, Priyanka told had Koi Moi.
The actress also further added that her mother, who always sits in the first row at her shows, had been backstage. She was there because Rani Mukerji’s mother did not come to the event. According to her, they had no clue when they reached Colombo that this event could turn into a tragedy. She added that she has never looked at death so closely in real life. The incident shook her up. It made her sick and she was in bed the whole day after reaching Mumbai.
