When Pawan Kalyan roamed around the streets of Kolkata and nobody recognized him! – Times of India

In 2011, Pawan Kalyan was in Kolkata for almost two months to shoot for his Telugu film ‘Panjaa’ which was then tentatively titled ‘The Shadow’. The action entertainer set against the backdrop of Kolkata was mostly shot in the city of joy and then rest of the shoot was done in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Directed by Vishnuvardhan, the Kolkata shooting part was scheduled in and around Bara Bazar and Dharmatala area. In between the shooting, Pawan often used to roam around in the alleys and streets of Bara Bazar as the actor wanted to explore the city without grabbing any attention. Interestingly, even if he walked on the streets amid the busy crowd, visited roadside shops no one recognized that it was none other than Pawan Kalyan walking down the streets. However, the Power Star was happy to see that he could avoid the unwanted attention and roam around freely like a common man leaving behind his starry image.

The Kolkata shooting commenced on May 6 and it continued till June 26. The action flick also had Sarah Jane Dias, Adivi Sesh and Jackie Shroff playing meaty roles. Pawan played the lead role of Kolkata-based hitman working for a mafia don. The film released in December 2011 and received mixed reviews from the critics and audience alike.
