WhatsApp voice calls will soon be more fun, especially in groups; Know why

The instant messaging app is likely to roll out a new voice call interface that will include a new waveform animation.

WhatsApp is rolling out a new feature that will tweak its voice call interface. The new version will reportedly include a new waveform animation. The feature was spotted under development and now it is rolling out for Android beta testers. The new UI was spotted by the WhatsApp development tracker WABetaInfo. The website reported that the new update will be rolled out in the Android 2.22.5.4 version. The instant messaging app has also started rolling out for a few iOS beta testers.

What is the new WhatsApp feature

The Meta owned instant messaging app WhatsApp has redesigned the user interface of a group voice call as well as the UI of a simple voice call. The screenshot of the UI shared by WABetaInfo, shows three people on voice call and all of them have waveform animation. The visible waveforms for audio messages will help to know exactly who’s talking or who shouldn’t leave their microphone on during calls. These waveforms will appear in different colours for easy recognition. “In addition, the redesign includes a wallpaper voice call that cannot be edited at the moment,” the website added.

WhatsApp Emoji shortcuts

As part of the WhatsApp beta UWP 2.2206.1.0 update, the application has also added another useful feature for its users – emoji shortcuts. As reported by WABetainfo, users can now simply type a colon followed by a keyword to find their preferred emoji quickly and share them during their conversations. Although this feature has already been available for WhatsApp Web/Desktop, it was missing on the Windows platform. But now the app is likely to introduce the feature for the Windows users as well. All they need to do is download the latest beta build app from the Microsoft store. According to WABetainfo, users need not wait for activation as it’s already enabled for all.
