WhatsApp to soon introduce Apple iMessage-like message reactions – Times of India
Meta-owned instant messaging and calling platform, WhatsApp has been testing several new features recently. A new report from WABetaInfo suggests that WhatsApp is working on Apple iMessage-like message reactions.
WABetainfo has revealed a couple of screenshots which suggest at the final stage of development
While Meta already has the similar feature implemented on its other messaging platforms like Messenger and Instagram and now, the company is planning to bring the same on WhatsApp as well.
Those who don’t know, Message reactions allows users to tap and hold a message and give a reaction on that by choosing from a limited number of emojis like thumb-up and down or sad, etc.
Also, it isn’t the first time the WhatsApp Reactions feature has surfaced. The feature first appeared last year, where it was said to be in early stages of development. However, the recent screenshots confirms that WhatsApp has come a long way and it might soon start testing the feature in the Beta version.
The screenshots also reveal how this feature will be implemented on WhatsApp. Just like the Messenger, WhatsApp will also have a single row of emojis to choose from above the message. There are a total of six emojis — thumbs up, heart, face with tears of joy, face with open mouth, crying face and folded hands.
Users will be able to send a reaction by simply tapping on them. Also, right now, it isn’t clear how to get those reactions, where users will need to just tap or press and hold.
