WhatsApp rolls out this group chat-related feature for some users – Times of India

Meta-owned popular instant messaging platform WhatsApp keeps adding new tools and features to improve users’ experience. The company was recently working on one such tool and now WhatsApp is planning to roll it out gradually for users across the world. WhatsApp has released a new update for some users that shows the profile pictures of users that are part of a group. Previously, in WhatsApp group chats, whenever a participant sent a text, the content of the message would appear below the person’s contact name, as saved by the user. With this update, users will be able to see the profile picture of the participant who has sent a message in the group chat. Apart from this, WhatsApp also recently rolled out the message yourself feature and the ability to forward media files with a caption for some users.
WhatsApp’s new group chat feature: Availability
This feature has already been spotted by some select users. Some iPhone users have also claimed to have seen this feature in WhatsApp groups. The company is gradually rolling out this feature for everyone and all users are expected to receive this feature soon.

Importance of this group chat feature
This group chat feature can be helpful for users who are a part of a large group as WhatsApp also recently started supporting groups with 1024 members. Moreover, in bigger groups, you may not know all the members and might not have everyone’s contact saved on your device.
This feature can be handy to search for messages from particular participants in bigger groups with their profile pictures.
How will this group chat feature work
Once this feature is enabled, the profile picture of a user will be displayed on the left side of the screen whenever that user sends a message to a group. The display picture will be followed by the user name (as saved in contacts) and the content of the text will be below the contact.
However, users won’t be able to see the profile picture of the participants who have enabled their privacy settings to hide their display photos. In cases, where the member has not shared their display pictures, WhatsApp’s default image will appear for them.
