WhatsApp reportedly testing message reaction feature for these users – Times of India
WhatsApp is working on several new features for the platform and one of the features that has been in the works for quite some time is the message reactions feature. The feature is currently under development but it has been spotted several times in WhatsApp beta updates. It is said to be similar to the message reaction feature on Facebook and Instagram. Users on these platforms can react to a message with emojis. As per a latest report by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is now working on functionality for web users that will allow them to send message reactions.
According to the report, WhatsApp has started to roll out a new update for the desktop client through the official beta channel. The update brings the version of the platform up to 2.2207.0. The references for the message reaction feature has been found in the update. As per the screenshots shared by WABetaInfo, once the feature is available, you will be able to choose from 6 different emojis to react to a message. The report reveals that you will be able to spot a new message reaction button whenever the cursor is near a message in individual chat or Group. You will get emoji options to react to messages after you press on this button.
As the feature is still under development, it is not available for users but it is expected that the company will roll out the feature soon. WhatsApp has not officially revealed any details about this feature yet. Previously, the platform was also working on a feature that will allow web users to receive notification whenever someone reacts to their message. In an older screenshot shared by WABetaInfo, a new ‘Turn of all reaction notifications’ option can be seen in the under notification settings section. WhatsApp web users will also have a new footer soon. The footer will be indicating that the messages you send or receive are end-to-end encrypted.
