WhatsApp is planning to change the way multi-device feature works: What it may mean for users – Times of India
WhatsApp’s multi-device feature has been out for quite a while now. The feature allows users to use WhatsApp on three devices simultaneously, but none of them can be a smartphone. However, this could change soon.
You may soon be able to use WhatsApp on two phones
As per a recent report from WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is working on a new companion mode – a feature touted as the multi-device 2.0 – recently spotted in the WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.22.15.1. With the companion mode, you would be able to link a second mobile to your WhatsApp account. And you know what the best part is; you do not need an active internet connection on your primary phone to send messages with the linked phone.
WhatsApp companion mode to be similar to multi-device feature
The feature is said to work similar to the way WhatsApp for Web/Desktop works. The chat would be copied to the secondary phone securely, and the process could take some time as it takes when you use the web or desktop companion.
The feature has been spotted in the WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.22.15.13. We are not sure if or when WhatsApp will release this feature. So, it is finally good to see WhatsApp taking a step in the right direction. We are not sure if or when WhatsApp will release this feature. For now, we can only wait for WhatsApp to begin a wider beta testing and then release the feature at some point in the future.
