WhatsApp avatar: WhatsApp starts testing avatars in beta | – Times of India

Reports about Meta working on its own version of avatars for WhatsApp has been around for a while. WABetaInfo has reported that WhatsApp has started testing the feature with a select number of beta testers on Android.
According to the report, WhatsApp Avatars are rolling out with WhatsApp beta for Android versions — 2.22.23.8 and 2.22.23.9. However, it is important to note that the feature is being tested with only a limited number of users irrespective of them running beta versions of the app on their Android devices.
If you are running the WhatsApp Beta for Android with the versions mentioned above, you don’t need to worry as WhatsApp is expected to expand the beta test soon to more users.
How does WhatsApp avatars feature work
According to screenshots posted in the blog, WhatsApp automatically creates new sticker pack after configuring an avatar which can be shared with friends and family. That being said, users will require to set up their avatar first. Users can also use the avatars as their profile photo.
The report mentions that the ‘Avatar’ feature in WhatsApp is available under Settings options. And, if you could see the option, the feature is available for you and you can start creating your own avatar.
Meanwhile, WhatsApp has recently started testing a new group feature that will help users with notification clutter and disturbance. The company has started testing an automatic group mute feature and as the name implies, it automatically mutes the larger groups to avoid notifying users with every message received on the group.
