What’s It Like Modeling for New York’s Funkiest Brand, as a Vogue Writer
I love Collina Strada. Taymour has a way of slicing and dicing her garments–which are always upcycled and sustainable–and dousing her designs in shockingly bright colors. The effect is crunchy elegance. Taymour, a purveyor of health and sustainability, makes me want to tend to a garden of carrots and solder a mason jar with to my arm. Plus, I love her community. Taymour has cultivated a clan of vegetable-adoring fans who strut, shake, and shimmy in her blinding kaleidoscope of garb.
A group of us were now starring in Taymour’s fall 2022 presentation titled The Collinas—a reality television spoof, directed by Charlie Engman, based on The Hills and The Real Housewives franchise about actor Tommy Dorfman becoming a Collina intern for the day. Engman would also shoot the accompanying lookbook and Soraya Zaman would be shooting some additional fab visuals. While Taymour does take environmentalism seriously, she makes it digestible, cheeky, and even funny. The people who Taymour cast all have a stellar sense of humor, too: Interview’s creative director Mel Ottenberg and his chiseled jaw, Dazed’s Lynette Nylander, ethereal musician Angel Prost, photographer and director Charlie Engman’s mother, Rustee, and, of course, Cory Kennedy, my teen indie sleaze dream girl.
