West Brom boss Carlos Corberan emerges as a potential candidate to replace Jesse Marsch at Leeds

Carlos Corberan is emerging as a potential candidate to replace Jesse Marsch should Leeds United decide to make a managerial change.

Marsch admitted on Sunday that he understood fans’ frustrations and that he needs to get a swift response from his players against Manchester United on Wednesday as he struggles to turn good performances into winning ones.

Leeds invested in Marsch’s squad during the January window but are one place above the relegation zone by virtue of goals difference.

Owner Andrea Radrizzani and Paraag Marathe, the president of investors 49ers Enterprises will be the men that have the key say on Marsch’s future this week.

Corberan, the West Bromwich Albion manager. was admired for his work at Leeds as a coach alongside Marcelo Bielsa and proved himself as a manager by taking Huddersfield Town to the Championship play offs. Despite suffering a blip with Olympiacos he has quickly rebuilt his burgeoning reputation with his work at West Brom where he has returned them to play-off contention.

Marsch’s side find themselves hovering just one place above the relegation zone in 17th 

Everton considered him for their manager’s position last week and held conversations about the merits of appointing the 39-year old but ultimately decided he didn’t possess enough top flight experience.

Leeds though rate Corberan highly and could reason that he knows their club well. He also has ex Leeds coach Jorge Alarcon on his back room team.

Albion want to give him a new contract as Corberan continues to impress their hierarchy but a call from Leeds could prove hard to resist.

Leeds were considering a change early in January yet backed Marsch with the £35m signing of Georginio Rutter plus the additions of Weston McKennie on loan from Juventus and Diogo Monteiro from Servette. Yet they are wary of enduring another relegation dogfight and believe this squad should instead be banking more wins.

Marsch acknowledges those wins must come quickly as they face Manchester United twice before pivotal games with Southampton and Everton.
