ROYAL RANDWICK
RAY THOMAS (Daily Telegraph) Form: 39223
THINK IT OVER (Race 5, No.1 — $2.00)
Think It Over has developed into an elite performer this year winning the George Ryder Stakes and finishing a close fourth in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes to Addeybb and Verry Elleegant over the Randwick 2000m course last autumn. He has returned in spring to win the Chelmsford Stakes before his game third in the George Main Stakes. Think It Over raced wide without cover for most of the race and ran on very gamely last start. Think It Over is in great form and clearly the one to beat in the Hill Stakes.
Value bet: SKY LAB (Race 8, No.17 — $19)
MATT JONES (Daily Telegraph) Form: 3341x
MONETFILIA (Race 9, No.8 — $5.50)
She’s dropping in weight off a few top runs this time in and ran against the track bias in the Kingston Town was still super. It’s her time to make it Group 1 number three.
Value bet: VON TRAPP (Race 7, No.8 — $21)
JETT HATTON (Racenet) Form: 93311
ROTHFIRE (Race 6, No.5 — $3.40)
Can’t see how Masked Crusader is favourite after Rothfire went much better last time out. The Queenslander had not raced since suffering an injury which nearly ended his career and faced a shifty track, but went great to run fourth behind Eduardo. He’s much better on top of the ground and is suited out to 1200m. Expect him to give this field a touch up on his way to the big dance.
Value bet: FANGIRL (Race 7, No.12 — $14)
FLEMINGTON
BRAD WATERS (Racenet) Form: 1s111
MYSTIC JOURNEY (Race 6, No.3 — $4.20)
Showed she was on the way back to her best with her first-up second in the Let’s Elope Stakes. She’s drawn a better gate and should settle closer.
Value bet: CHARACTER (Race 2, No.3 — $31)
CHRIS VERNUCCIO (Racing News Editor) Form: 12211
INCENTIVISE (Race 7, No.3 — $2.80)
Has lost Turnbull Stakes favouritism to Verry Elleegant but he’ll go to another level at 2000m after winning the Makybe Diva Stakes. He will control the tempo and can handle soft ground.
Value bet: ANNAVISTO (Race 6, No.9 — $5.50)
GLENN McFARLANE (Herald Sun) Form: 11212
ELUSIVE EXPRESS (Race 3, No.2 — $2.90)
Talented filly who charged home late in the Thousand Guineas Preview and looks even better suited at the mile.
Value bet: MORNINGTON GLORY (Race 5, No.10 — $10)
SIMON MOY (NewsRacing) Form: 11820
COLETTE (Race 7, No.8 — $8.50)
Should have finished closer in the Makybe but forced to come off heels. Both comeback runs full of merit and rain helps immensely.
Value bet: GRAND PROMENADE (Race 8, No.11 — $4.60)
NICK QUINN (TAB) Form: 11312
VERRY ELLEEGANT (Race 7, No.4 — $2.25)
Superstar mare who was tenacious last start winning the George Main and steps up to 2000 metres where she is a five-time winner. Looks well placed to defend her crown.
Value bet: MORNINGTON GLORY (Race 5, No.10 — $10)
DOOMBEN
TRENTON AKERS (Courier Mail) Form: 43116
ENTERPRISE POMME (Race 9, No.2 — $2.90)
Comes out of Group 2 grade in Sydney where she ran a blinder ahead of subsequent winner Four Moves Ahead. Comes back to Brisbane here and has a stack of class on these gallopers. Should be hard to beat despite a tough draw.
Value bet: OUR REBEL (Race 5, No.3 — $5.50)
