Weber State players were consoling long snapper Sands on the sidelines after the fourth safety, according to 406 MT Sports’ Victor Flores.
Not only did Weber State, suffer the humiliating safeties but it also lost its undefeated record. It entered this week’s game with an undefeated 6-0 record and the No. 5 ranking in the FCS.
Following the game Weber State head coach Jay Hill did not hide his displeasure when discussing his team’s performance.
‘We had too many mistakes. Dumb mistakes. A stretch of football for about 20 minutes where we did not play good at all on any side of the ball,’ said Hill.

‘Offense didn’t sustain drives so we had to punt. When we punted, we punt we snapped it over the punters head. I’ve never been in a game like that where we did it multiple times let alone four.’
‘So it’s an offense, it’s a defense, it’s a special teams deal. For all the great things we did do we had way too many dumb mistakes.
Weber State will try to rectify the ‘dumb mistakes’ when they face off against Montana next week.
