Watch: Yankees manager Aaron Boone ejected for league-leading fifth time

No current manager in baseball gets ejected as much as the New York Yankees’ Aaron Boone.

He added to his already impressive ejection total on Sunday with his league-leading fifth of the year.

The point of contention, as per usual, were balls and strikes.

Boone’s frustration with home plate umpire Dan Merzel boiled over in the third inning and resulted in yet another ejection.

That is Boone’s 31st ejection since being named manager of the Yankees, while he has led the American League in each of the past three seasons.

Boone has addressed the number of ejections being alarming and not wanting to continue that pace, but he never seems to slow down from it. The frustration of balls and strikes always seems to get the best of him in big moments.

The Yankees entered play on Sunday with a 46-37 record and were 9.5 games out of first place in the American League East. They do, however, still have a hold on a Wild Card spot.

Injuries have been a big problem for the Yankees this season, especially as it relates to their pitching staff. And the continued absence of Aaron Judge has decimated the team’s lineup.

There is no official timetable for Judge’s return, but the Yankees are expected to get top offseason acquisition Carlos Rodon back this week for his long-awaited debut with the team.
