Watch: Unhappy Kieron Pollard protests umpire’s call in CPL in bizarre fashion, amuses fans

West Indies and Trinbago Knight Riders captain Kieron Pollard, who is famous for his power-hitting and explosive batting, is also known for his antics on the field especially when he is unhappy with the on-field decisions by the umpires and he has never shied away from expressing his dissent.

Whether it was applying tape on his mouth during a game in the IPL or loud cheering from backward point and mid-on, Pollard has made his presence felt when a decision goes against him and his team. Now, Pollard chose another way of protest to umpire’s decision in his side Trinbago Knight Riders’ Caribbean Premier League (CPL) game against the St Lucia Kings.

Kings’ pacer Wahab Riaz bowled a wide ball outside the wide line and despite the batsman, Tim Seifert standing in the line of the stumps, the umpire didn’t give it a wide. Seifert was unhappy with the call and kept asking the umpire why it wasn’t given a wide.

While on the non-striker’s end Pollard, naturally unhappy too looked at the umpire and just walked away without saying anything in frustration and went almost to the mid-wicket fielder’s position to take the guard as non-striker.

Pollard’s bizarre protest amused many fans as many wondered why he did what he did while others couldn’t stop laughing. However, it wasn’t a bad day for Pollard’s side as TKR won the game by 27 runs as Pollard and Seifert stitched a 78-run partnership, which proved to be decisive in the end on a slow wicket.
