According to reports, close to 90 percent of the track has been improved so that the new train can run at a speed of 110 kilometres per hour and the rest of the work is expected to be completed by July this year.
“Out of 489 km track, 386 km are fit for 110 kmph speed. The rest will be upgraded by July this year,” a senior Railway official was quoted by news agency PTI as saying.
According to news agency ANI, five new Vande Bharat Express trains are expected to be unveiled by PM Modi on June 27. The other four trains are expected to operate on the Goa-Mumbai, Patna-Ranchi, Bhopal-Indore, Bhopal-Jabalpur, and Bangalore-Hubli-Dharwad routes. These new trains are expected to be manufactured at the Integral Coach Factory, Chennai in accordance with the Make in India policy of the government.
With the induction of five new Vandabharat trains, the total number of these semi-high-speed trains in the country will reach 23. Vande Bharat Express trains are known to operate at semi-high speeds, with comfortable seating and advanced safety features.
