Watch Teyana Taylor Do Her Triple Cleansing and Date-Night Makeup Routine
Teyana Taylor is a jack of all trades. Whether she’s flexing her singing, dancing, modeling, choreographing, or acting chops, the star is known to bring unmatched enthusiasm to each project. To no surprise, Taylor puts the same level of care into her beauty regimens. Here, the 32-year-old, who stars in the upcoming film A Thousand and One out this Friday, walks Vogue through her routine ahead of a date night, from perfectly etched brows to second-skin foundation. “Y’all ready?” she poses before diving right in.
“When I had kids, and I started to really deal with breakouts, random pimples, bumps, blackheads, I started getting into skin care,” Taylor says while lathering Tatcha’s rice wash. She prioritizes deep cleansing to sufficiently remove all makeup residue, which often means a trio of different formulas. The second is a gentle exfoliant, and the third is a soothing gel by Fresh. “I’m a concoction kind of person,” Taylor insists. Once the cleansers are wiped away with a damp cloth, it’s time for La Mer’s face mist, a plumping lip mask, and a dose of moisturizer she mixes with sunscreen.
With skin prepped, Taylor’s onto makeup, beginning with brows. “Everyone who knows me knows I don’t play about them, okay?” she says playfully. Taylor achieves her immaculate arches, first with Anastasia Beverly Hills’s sought-after pencil and pulls of styling wax, and then precisely blended concealer under her just-defined arches to enhance their shape. Emphasizing the importance of knowing your undertone, Taylor combines two shades of a radiant NARS foundation with Pat McGrath’s concealer locked into place by a dusting of powder, sweeping of rosy blush, and strategically placed highlighter. Eyes are next, accentuated by eyeliner on her lower lash line and warm, smoky eyeshadow smudged into her lids; then lips, which are traced with a dark brown liner and a duo of Fenty Beauty lip glosses. The final touches before her hot date? Body butter and Le Labo’s perfume balm rolled on the spots she knows her husband will appreciate. Leave it to Taylor to bring the heat!
